Titanes del Trombón is the latest artist vision from trombonist, composer and arranger Doug Beavers (Eddie Palmieri, Spanish Harlem Orchestra) that pays tribute to the great trombonists of the jazz and latin idioms. Recognizing that trombonists such as J.J. Johnson, Barry Rodgers, and Slide Hampton were also stalwart arrangers and composers in their own right, Beavers has set this eclectic new set of original compositions and arrangements to lush orchestration, including the use of extended brass including french horns, tuba, and a full string section.
This visionary effort includes the efforts of acclaimed masters of both idioms today, including Oscar Hernandez, Edsel Gomez, Luisito Quintero, Dafnis Prieto, Luques Curtis, and more. Also appearing on the project are noted vocalists Herman Olivera, Frankie Vasquez, Carlos Cascante and trombonists Conrad Herwig and Luis Bonilla.
